AI-Augmented Senior Backend Engineer (Golang)

As a Senior Golang Developer at Qapitol's Professional Services BU, you own technical design, not just implementation. You drive architecture decisions, mentor the engineers around you, and take real responsibility for scalability, observability, and performance in high-traffic production environments.
What makes this role distinct from a standard senior backend position is the AI-native expectation. Every engineer here is expected to be fluent in AI coding tools and capable of building or integrating AI/LLM-backed services — embeddings, vector search, model-serving APIs — into the core backend architecture. AI-assisted observability and anomaly detection are part of the working context, not future aspirations.

What you'll own
- Design and develop scalable backend services and microservices in Go
- Drive architecture and technical design decisions across the team
- Build highly reliable, secure, and performant systems at production scale
- Mentor junior engineers and conduct rigorous code reviews
- Collaborate with Product, QA, and DevOps teams on platform delivery
- Improve platform scalability, observability, and performance continuously
- Build or integrate AI/LLM-backed services — embeddings, vector search, model-serving APIs — into backend architecture
- Apply AI-assisted observability and anomaly detection for high-traffic systems
What it takes
- 5+ years of backend development experience
- Strong expertise in Golang
- Deep understanding of microservices and distributed systems
- Hands-on experience with REST APIs, databases, caching, and messaging systems
- Strong system design and performance optimisation skills
- Experience with high-traffic production systems
- Fluency with AI coding assistants (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) for development and code review
- Working knowledge of building or integrating AI/LLM-backed services into backend architecture
Nice to have
- Experience in ecommerce, logistics, or B2B commerce domains
- Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platform experience
- Exposure to event-driven architectures
